Trump Calls Relatives of Injured National Guard Soldiers to White House

President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the White House.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Devastating Incident

Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief stated he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both members of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump told journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Support

Mourners gathered over the weekend at a local school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to aid public safety in DC.

Honoring the Soldier

“Sarah was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, considerate and always willing to assist people.”

Service arrangements for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Actions and Government Changes

Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident caused the administration to pause asylum processing and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to possessors of travel documents.

Status of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general the attorney general stated on a news show that she planned to visit his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with distinction, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had courage,” he addressed the audience at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
