Thrice-crowned award winner Jokic suffers a 'devastating' injury to his knee.

He earned the league's MVP honor in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Triple National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Jokic sustained a "heartbreaking" knee injury while the Nuggets were defeated by a score of 147-123 at the Miami Heat.

The Serbian center injured himself late in the first half during an accidental contact with teammate Jones.

Jones landed on the foot of the big man, and he promptly went down to the floor clutching his knee.

The 30-year-old, who tops the NBA this season in rebounds and dimes, posted a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the matchup prior to incurring the setback.

He will have an MRI on Tuesday to assess the severity of the problem.

"Right away, he understood something was wrong," commented Nuggets head coach David Adelman.

"Injuries are part of the game. Any player that gets hurt, it's difficult, especially somebody as talented as Jokic. We will know more tomorrow."

"We will continue as a team. Clearly, right now, I'm more concerned about Jokic personally and the letdown of going through a situation like that."
