19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks his initial championship after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

The win also signifies he has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on court had caused some to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour victory, took control to push for a decider.

He saved four initial chances in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
