The striker is now a member of the Championship side only seven months after instigating derogatory chants aimed at their manager, Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, without a club since leaving Leeds United, has signed a deal joining the second-tier club in difficulty through the winter. Bamford's lengthy time with Leeds concluded by mutual consent this past summer.

One of the player's last memorable actions while at Leeds included starting insulting songs regarding Wilder amid the club’s promotion celebrations in April. Now, the former England international will be playing for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss looks to pull the team he loves away from the drop zone.

Previous Conflict Between Bamford & the Manager

The pair had a past prior to Leeds earned promotion back to the Premier League last season while Sheffield United lost the promotion decider by Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as “a muppet” when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and the Blades won direct promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation and Moving Forward

All appears to have been forgiven and forgotten with United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, in desperate need of improvement in attack while Bamford looking to revive his career.

The Wilder chant gained traction this spring. A repentant Patrick and the Leeds manager, Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Chris Wilder said at the time: “Had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I have no issue at all with it. I’m not sure regarding the language from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and respected him giving me a call.

“We spent 20 minutes and the same again I talked with Daniel Farke too and had a longer discussion together and he's a super guy, a class act. Back in my playing days we used to give it and take it and that’s an integral part of football at every level, including Sunday league. I've got absolutely no issue. I am cool with the situation and I told him that to Pat.”

Latest Career Struggles

Bamford featured in 18 games for Leeds last season however the former Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Boro striker has struggled with fitness issues in recent years.
