Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
