Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors report that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences â comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen â spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A senior prosecutor stated, âOur prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.â
The Investigation
The charges follow what police called a âcomplex investigationâ into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Police have asked individuals with information to get in touch with the investigating team.
