The British player advanced to round three in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slams during the season.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of the last two tournaments this season as a result of a health issue she has been fighting for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to rest and recuperate before starting next year's training.

Her upcoming training will involve trainer Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.

The tennis professional had her blood pressure taken in her opening round versus Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when behind 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the third set versus Zhu because of back discomfort that has been a concern at times this year.

Those results meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 for the first time since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.

She held three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in Beijing last month.

Raducanu won twenty-eight matches this year and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament then falling in a three-set match to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She worked with Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.

The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions in the coming months.

She mentioned that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
