Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the club's worst streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

Slot lamented recurring shortcomings from his team in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase such as this with performances like these.”

He concluded, “But we still have that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
